Glaswegian psychedelic rock band Helicon will be playing their first Brighton show at The Hope & Ruin as part of their UK tour. Following the release of their new EP Zero Fucks, a bone-chilling psychedelic three-track EP, the five-piece band are exploring new realms of possibilities.
Best described as a mythical force amongst the UK underground scene, allowing listeners ears to travel globally through their music, Helicon formed in 2009 by brothers, John-Paul and Gary Hughes; Graham Gordon, Mark McLure and Sea Jonsen make up Helicon alongside the Hughes brothers. Since their formation, the band have appeared alongside The Wooden Ships, The Warlocks and Dead Skeletons. Their long-awaited second album is in the works, Helicon explore themes of love and loss; drugs and drink; religion and politics; life and death through their music.
Mildred Maude, an improvisational krautrock noise band from Falmouth, Cornwall will be going Helicon at The Hope & Ruin. As well as local support from Brighton based Codex Serafini, a five-piece Saturnian rock band, who experiment within the boundaries and surreal and fantasy. Cryptic and puzzling, this line up is one not to miss!
